A Profile of JoLynn Munro
JoLynn Munro enters her role as Infinity Rehab Division President in the midst of major payment reimbursement changes. The Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) coming October 2019 relies on patient characteristics as the pay basis rather than therapy minutes.
 

Embracing a new payment model

As a company of mostly therapists, including occupational, physical, and speech-language therapists, this new payment model will be a major shift for Infinity Rehab.
“PDPM is a big change in the marketplace,” JoLynn said. “It’s through the work our clinicians are doing that we’re going to be successful in the end. I’m excited about tackling it and coming out the other side thriving.”
JoLynn experienced a similar change with the Prospective Payment System (PPS) in 1998 as Area Rehab Director. This change shaped how she viewed leadership and managing through difficult times. JoLynn believes this experience coupled with her confidence in her teams is what drives her optimism in Infinity Rehab team members’ ability to successfully navigate PDPM.
“I gain strength from understanding we have support from the top as well as in the field,” JoLynn said. “We have a great team that’s going to move us toward quality outcomes. We will become stronger through this change.”

Building tomorrow’s leaders

JoLynn enjoys leading teams through changes and rallying them around a shared vision. She’s also passionate about sharing the leadership skills she gained through these experiences with fellow Infinity team members.
JoLynn shared her knowledge as a Leadership Academy coach, one of Infinity’s professional development programs, to help team members improve their leadership skills. Not surprisingly, her students weren’t the only ones who benefited from the program.
“Building this amazing leadership experience for team members in the field helped me grow as a leader,” JoLynn said. “I take pride in supporting the quality teams around me.”
 

An OT perspective as a leader

Occupational therapists (OT) look at their patients as a whole person – not as an injury, not as an activity limitation, and not as a hip recovering from surgery. As an OT herself, JoLynn applies this perspective in her leadership role. She looks at the company as a whole; you can’t separate it, she said.
She believes her training, leadership experience, and development opportunities prepared her to become Division President. She is ready to inspire others, embrace new opportunities, and move the company forward to bigger and better things.
 

Bloom where you’re planted

JoLynn feels humbled to be where she is today because it’s not what she initially sought out to do. Early in her career, she wanted to be a good therapist and a good employee. She worked hard, expressed passion in her work, and welcomed opportunities as they came.
“Bloom where you’re planted,” JoLynn said. “I’m a woman. I’m an OT. I’m a leader. And it feels really good.”
