During a time when it’s especially crucial to monitor our health, Infinity Rehab is also recognizing National High Blood Pressure Education Month in May.
Here are five tips to managing your blood pressure for a healthier you.
1. Start the morning with fruit
Star your morning right with some fresh fruit! Enjoy a banana, orange, or any fruit you like. Reach for food high in potassium and fiber (like oranges and strawberries) for a healthy breakfast that’s good for your blood pressure.
2. Get some ZZZs
A healthy amount of sleep is good for your body in many ways, including your blood pressure! Sleep is a key part of keeping your heart and blood vessels healthy.
Help your body get some much-needed sleep by following a routine sleep schedule, setting your bedroom at a comfortable temperate, and avoiding using electronics before bed.
3. Take a walk
Exercise helps lower blood pressure and helps you attain and keep a healthy weight. Try taking a walk or doing some light stretches. Talk to your doctor about the right type and amount of physical activity for you.
4. Take your medicine
Follow your doctor’s recommendations for managing your blood pressure, which could include taking medication. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions regarding taking your medicine.
5. Learn the signs of blood pressure
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), signs of blood pressure include: feeling tired, trouble sleeping, leg cramps, headaches, and more. Watch the video below to find out about more symptoms and how to treat high blood pressure.
Remember you could have blood pressure without any symptoms. It’s important to check your blood pressure often and schedule regular doctor appointments.

National High Blood Pressure Education Month is sponsored by the CDC to raise awareness about the impact of hypertension. Before making any changes to your diet or exercise routine, talk to your doctor.
