Our first Shining Star this issue is Amy Nichols, PTA. Amy works at Bend Transitional Care in Bend, Oregon.

Here is what her nominator had to say.

This employee is particularly skilled at: Being a dynamic and flexible team player. She quickly adapts her schedule to accomodate call offs and cares about her patients, ensuring there are minimal to no missed visits.

I have seen this employee “go the extra mile” by: Picking up additional shifts outside of her regularly scheduled days, staying late, and seeing extra patients. She also cares about her teammates and assists the DOR in celebrations for her team members.

Our mission is to set the standard in rehabilitation for successful aging by delivering the best of science with the art of caring. This employee expresses and emulates the Infinity Rehab mission in the following manner: Amy exemplifies the art of caring, both for her patients and her teammates. She is also very well liked and respected by the interdisciplinary team for her flexibility in assisting nursing staff with mobility for patients. Overall, Amy is the kind of employee every manager hopes to have. She delivers high quality sessions to assist her patients in making progress with Physical Therapy with a positive, caring approach. I can’t say enough good things about Amy.

Our second Shining Star this issue is Eskinder Abasseran, COTA. Eskinder works at Mission Healthcare at Bellevue in Bellevue, Washington.

Here is what his nominator had to say.

Eskinder is great about meeting patients where they are. He knows when to take it a bit easier and when our patients can use a bit of encouragement to further progress in their goals.

Eskinder goes the extra mile by taking a lot of initiative in making sure patients’ immediate goals and concerns are address while also keeping in good communication with our OT. He is quick to respond to patient concerns and make them feel more comfortable and listened to.

Eskinder demonstrates respect in all of his interactions. Whether it be with nursing, patients, or peers, he is always doing his best to know where they are coming from and to meet everyone where they are.
