I want to share a little bit about my recent experience meeting with Kristen Hughes as part of our free 401K support that we receive at Infinity Rehab from our partner, Phillips & Company.

The purpose of my meeting was to both understand the offering, but also talk about my personal financial situation. It was easy to find a good time and schedule a 30-minute call using her personal calendar link. When we arrived on the call, we each introduced ourselves. We briefly talked about how much she enjoys meeting 1 to 1 with employees like me to talk about their financial future. In fact, she said it is her favorite part of her job!

First, we talked about what I thought retirement might look like for me, like what age I was targeting, if there was anyone else involved like a spouse or partner. Then we jumped into my financial situation. She was able to look up my account in Fidelity and see my balance and fund choices. She then asked about any other financial accounts that I have for retirement savings. I was lucky to have that information available in a personal finance app I have on my phone, so I shared that with her. If you have any other retirement savings accounts, I recommend you bring that information with you to share to paint the clearest picture for yourself.

Once I gave her all my information, she put it into a calculator to show me my personal scenario. I was impressed with how fast she was able to give me a clear picture of whether I was on a solid financial path to retirement. We talked a little about my investment choices that I have in Infinity’s 401K plan. She made general observations for me, like how conservative or aggressive my fund choices were. She also talked about the importance of having a well-balanced portfolio, but she did not make any recommendations.

After we finished meeting, she emailed me the same presentation she showed me from my records. She also told me that she was available to meet again in the future if I wanted to take next steps to discuss more about my financial picture. She also said my wife could join in the future if she wanted to.

Overall, I was really impressed with how much we accomplished in just 30 minutes, and I was very happy that I made the time to meet with her. If you have a 401k account with Infinity, I highly recommend that you take this opportunity to get some free financial guidance from our partners at Phillips and Company.
