Since we went live with our custom NetHealth library in January of this year, we have had access to the Functional Communication Measures associated with the National Outcomes Measurement System (NOMS) developed by ASHA. Since that time, we have encountered numerous challenges to the smooth, efficient, and accurate input and transmission of data. We are finding a variety of error codes that are different across locations, difficulty with evaluation only cases, and duplication of information available in other places within the health record. For these reasons, we made the decision to discontinue our use of the FCMs associated with ASHA NOMS. We let our contact with ASHA know of our challenges and are certainly open to exploring this again with them if they are able to resolve some of these challenges.
This change will take effect with the newest version of the NetHealth library scheduled for early to mid-November.
